Roaming in Deep Sea, Durational Performance, 3h, Hubei, China, 2020.

 

This work was created when the lockdown was gradually ending and people were allowed to go out of their residential areas. I wore an inflatable tube, diving goggles, a respirator, and a face mask and wandered into the city. The double seal of the facemask and respirator made my heavy breathing and its echo much more noticeable. I also drooled, which is difficult to control. Pedestrians were still rarely seen on the road.
